Tuure Kilpeläinen ja Kaihon Karavaani are a tight-knit ensemble and one of Finland’s most popular live bands. Marrying ethno-influenced pop, rock and Finnish schlager together with swaying grooves, the band love being on stage – something that is very easy to see, hear and experience in their warm, laid-back and fun live presence. Having played gigs together for more than 12 years, the band will take a long break after the summer.
Their debut album, Valon pisaroita, (Warner Music Finland, 2010) went platinum and has been followed by five more critically acclaimed and hugely popular albums also going gold and platinum, with the two most recent ones, Surusilmäinen kauneus (2016) and Paluu paratiisiin (2020), topping the Finnish charts. Frontman Tuure Kilpeläinen and his band have received several music awards, including winning Band of the Year at Iskelmä Gala 2021.
The band comprises Tuure Kilpeläinen (lead vocals, guitar) as well as Rocka Merilahti (guitar), Jiri Kuronen (keyboards, accordion), Aarne Riikonen (percussions), Jarno “Jape” Karjalainen (bass) and Sampo Haapaniemi (drums), who has also produced some of their releases.
