Congolese-Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Lionel Kizaba is known as a pioneer of Congolese electronic music. His music skillfully combines the songs of his ancestors, soukous, and Afrobeat. His songs mix French, English, Kikongo, and Lingala transcending cultural and linguistic boundaries.
The artist’s second album, Future Village (2024), creates a soundscape where tradition meets innovation. The album received several nominations at the Canadian JUNO Awards in 2024, including for World Music Album of the Year.
After rocking Womex in Tampere in 2025, Kizaba is now coming to Finland for the second time, bringing traditional Congolese and African rhythms combined with electronic music and captivating stage charisma to the festival audience. Kizaba will be accompanied on stage by an Afro-pop-rock guitarist and a DJ, creating an energetic and dynamic ensemble.
