Jarmo Saari Republic will perform for the first time a programme in which the music is built around famous recorded historical speeches. The band improvises music to accompany the speeches, creating a unique experience.
The speeches deal with freedom, peace, tolerance, solidarity, respect for nature, individual choices, sanctity, and activism. The concert highlights human rights, freedom of speech, and the importance of expression, and encourages reflection on the impact of one’s own actions on the world.
Founded in 2012, Jarmo Saari Republic is a musical experimental laboratory led by award-winning multi-instrumentalist Jarmo Saari and three top percussionists. The music combines hypnotic rhythmic textures, soundscapes, live looping, and improvisation.
