The Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation is a non-governmental organization that promotes the protection of old growth forests. The foundation buys old untouched forests with donation funds and applies for a permanent protection for them. The Friends of Ancient Forests provides support for The Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation.

The Natural Heritage Foundation runs campaigns to raise funds for the acquisition of conservation areas. Funds are being raised in a number of regional campaigns.

In Finland, a mere four percent of the forests in the southern half of the country is under legal protection. This is why the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation’s primary goal is to purchase forest sites from southern and central Finland. When searching for appropriate sites, the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation focuses on old forests that haven’t been cut and host a high degree of biodiversity.

You can support the work of The Natural Heritage Foundation by making a donation, becoming a sponsor, buying gift cards or support products. You can also become a member of The Friends of Ancient Forests and participate in the activities.
