The World in Pictures – 40 Years of People and Phenomena
The 40th anniversary exhibition of Maailman Kuvalehti celebrates the multi-award-winning magazine at the heart of which is world-expanding photojournalism.
To mark the occasion, Maailman Kuvalehti will bring to the festival some of the most stunning images from the magazine’s pages over the years. The photo exhibition will feature images from Myanmar, Ghana, Bulgaria, Brazil, Senegal, Kenya and other countries.
The exhibition consists of large-scale colour photographs taken by our extensive network of international contributors, including Rubén Salgado (Spain), Ivo Danchev (Bulgaria), Evgeny Makarov (Germany), and Oscar Espinosa (Spain).
In addition to the photographs, the exhibition will also present the history of the magazine. Founded in 1985 under the name of ‘Kumppani’, the magazine, which was distributed free of charge, has grown over the years into a subscription-based magazine on global issues.
The exhibition is located in Lämpiö next to Speaker’s Stage.
