When Your Peace Isn’t My Peace
New conflicts erupt and old enmities undermine peace in the world. To a community leader in Somalia or a teacher in Ukraine, peace could mean something entirely different. So what happens when one person’s idea of peace isn’t like another person’s? The program brings together professional peace workers and grassroots voices worldwide to shed light on the meaning of peace to different people in different cultures. There is genuine hope for peace among even those who have witnessed violence at its worst.
Mohamed Elsanousi, the Executive Director of the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers, Piya Itkonen, FCA Country Director for Somalia, and Patricia Maruschak, FCA Country Director for Ukraine, will join the discussion on stage. The program will also feature video inserts from various countries across the world. What practical steps can we take to bolster peace at home and how can we find space for peacebuilding even in the midst of conflict?
After the programme, you can meet the panellists in the Lämpiö next to the Speaker’s Stage.
