First Rosebud bookstore opened in Kulmakatu in Kruunuhaka, Helsinki in 1995. Since then we have had about 80 fixed bookshop premises at different addresses, most of them in the Helsinki city centre.
Currently we have six bookshops. Kaisaniemi Sivullinen is the largest bookshop in Finland by number of titles. At the time of writing, Rosebud’s bookshops have over 55,000 different titles on their shelves. The emphasis is on non-fiction, including the full range available from all major scientific publishers. In the field of fiction, particular attention is paid to literary classics and science fiction, as well as books from small publishers and self-published works.
In addition to books in Finnish, we also have a growing selection of books in English, French and Swedish. In the early days of its history, the company’s publishing activities focused in particular on film literature.
That is why the company was named Rosebud after Orson Welles’ great film.
