FSE ry – Accessible Education and Rights for Children and Youth with Disabilities in Tanzania
FSE ry is a Finnish-Tanzanian nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the education and rights of children and youth with disabilities in Tanzania. Every child has the right to learn and grow – without barriers and on equal terms.
Our core mission is to support accessible education, especially at the secondary level. We train teachers, hire interpreters, and provide students with assistive devices and technology to ensure that every student can study according to their individual needs.
This year, we launched a new project: Arusha Especially 2025–2028. The goal of this initiative is to improve special education in the Arusha region of Tanzania, ensuring that children and youth with disabilities have full and equal access to education in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). This project helps students develop skills that empower them to find their place in society.
As part of this initiative, we are introducing afternoon clubs for students with disabilities. These clubs provide training in digital skills, media literacy, and life management while also addressing critical topics such as sexual health, bodily autonomy, disability rights, and menstrual hygiene. Our goal is to ensure that young people with disabilities receive the knowledge and skills necessary for their well-being and independence—allowing them to participate fully in society. With this comprehensive approach to education, we strive to equip all students, regardless of their abilities, with the tools they need to succeed and contribute to their communities.
Meet us at the World Village Festival! Learn more about our work and how you can help change the future for children and youth with disabilities. By purchasing products from our booth, you directly support our afternoon clubs. All our Finnish team members work as volunteers, and 100% of the funds collected go directly to the cause.
Small actions can create big change!
